HOW WE CAN HELP : MOVEMENT ANALYSIS

Movement Analysis: Using Swinger Plus Motion Analysis Software

Movement Analysis (or Technique Analysis) is futuristic in its approach to injury treatment. But when you stop and think about it as a coach, athlete or lay person, it must be crucial to a treatment plan.

For Example - In many cases most clinicians can eliminate most of the other causes of injury, yet some patients may remain injured. WHY?

We put it to you that the actual movement can be a cause, and therefore, if not nullified, an injury may continue.

An example of Movement Analysis is shown below.

Case Study One: Injury History : Patello Femoral Pain

Before:
Diagnosis:
Patient over-striding and landing too far out in front of centre of mass. This leads to a massive overload of vertical ground reaction force to be absorbed by joints of ankle knee and hip. As a result ankle flexion knee flexion and hip flexion is quite large.

Intervention:
Running Drills involved in stage 1 and 2 running enhancement, included:

Hip extensions drills
Walking and running drills
Gluteal activations

Pelvic Stability drills

After (one hour session):

Results:
Patient landing closer to centre of mass. As a result less force is wasted. The joints move less. Fewer predispositions to large moments across ankle knee and hip.
